Hi all,

After some advice please. I'm looking at getting my first chipper, it would have to be 750KG or less and around the 5k mark.

What would be the best chipper for that price and where is the best place to look?

Thanks in advance,

Ed

I have but don't want to be in loads of debt. I want to start off second hand and when work progresses then may be go down the finance route.

Thanks Pete.

Although you don't want to get into loads of debt, I frequently see people purchase a sub £5K chipper and end up facing huge costs in repairs and on-going maintenance. Ask yourself this: Why are they selling? Quite often (but not every time) you end up buying someone else's problems.

Just as an example, a new machine with a £5K deposit could cost you as little as £25 per week..............

This!

And don't forget the £400 job you are started one morning, the chipper breaks down and you have to leave site. Thats a couple months finance payments right there!

I financed a tw150 5years back. 10%deposit and the 283 quid a month. If I was hiring a chipper it would cost 110 a day round here so 3 uses a month it had paid for itself. It is a big commitment as you would be in it for the long haul.

the stuff that my cs100 gobbles is crazy... i know its a pencil sharpener etc... not a real chipper... but its paid for itself quickly and for those jobs where you can leave chip on site its a miracle. changes the way you work.
