I use something similar on a smaller and much slower scale to cut up ex - building timber, pallets etc.

Those blocks he is splitting look so perfect I thought they were rounds of plastic when I first saw them all lined up.

Its Eucalyptus, it looks very nice, but its very, very tough to split.

Looked a bit smooth barked to be Euc but may be a variety I'm not familiar with?

 

The splitter is a very impressive bit of kit - I was a bit surprised that it looked like single handed operation though.

Seems to be a lot of manual work to cut into rings and load onto the machine.

 

Would it not be better to split the large trunk with either a screw splitter or a hydraulic grab splitter into long more manageable diameters and then feed through a conventional Palax processor or similar?
