Why have chainsaws got worse?

We run an 02 tranny and a 25yr old mog.

When I think of what the yanks run..,

Eg. Big over engineered lumps that run forever. Verses what we get over here: tiny power plants with high pressure turbo set ups running at the very limit all the time. Everything is under-engineered these days. That is my point :)

What ever happened to "solid" "robust"and "heavy duty" ???

The Russians win the Paris-Dakar every year now with Kamaz trucks.

I wonder if they make a 3.5t truck??

I'd buy one! :)

I have a 2010 ms200 and a 201. I'd pick up the 201 everytime now. The 200 is proper temperamental some days runs like a dream other days like a sack of spuds. The 201 works may not be quite as powerful in the cut as the 200 but the 200 would cut out and search for fuel all the time. I have a 560xp and would say it is the best saw I've bought. I also had an 038av which the av was a laugh I could use the saw for 5mins before my hands would vibrate. My 064 wasn't much better so got an 066 which wasn't much better and got a 660 which is an animal.

Do you not remember the 200t isn't a patch on the 020 conversations. Its progress it may not always be progress in terms of power but is in other ways.

My double cross cut saw is so much more reliable than modern saws, never had any carb issues, and is proper cheap on fuel...

It's so easy to look back on saws of the past with rose tinted specs.

S'right

Wouldn't swap my T540 for a 200T

Did you send your double cross cut to spud along with your 357?

Everybody wants a iPhone and iPad ipod nobody wants an old brick of a Nokia or a home computer

Progress and emissions are throttling everything

As for the makita 7901 versus new model, Dolmar have introduced the 7910 which is an updated 7900 and its a better saw internally and again once warranty is out the way you can let it breathe the nice mountain air:thumbup::thumbup:

I'll keep to my modern Husky thanks. Fuel line failed the other day so borrowed an 062 for a day of coppicing. Couldn't feel my hands by the end of it. It did the job but I wouldn't want to be using that every day. Maybe it was badly set up.
