Need a big saw.

Evening,

I need a large saw, a 460 on a 25 is my biggest at the moment and it's painfully slow on the 25. I even had it ported a year ago to avoid spending on a larger machine, but now I have to admit defeat and buy a big machine.

As it will get climbed with occasionally I am thinking 660/395 instead of the 3120/880. However if I buy the smaller one will I later need to buy another saw? Probably.

So I think it's 395 and once the warranty expires get it off to spud for porting and hopefully not need an 880/3120 for bit longer.

Any thoughts?

Anybody got a machine 95cc plus in reasonable condition they want to sell?

The makita or dolmar DCS9010 is a good saw 90cc and runs a 24 inch bar really well an the one I got new the other week was £170 cheaper than the best 661 price I found on line. The makita needs the bar studs swapped to take husky type bars but it's a 2 min job and the parts (New studs) cost £3. There's a thread in the chainsawbars section. I think the dolmar doesn't need this doing but others will know better than me.

Right then, I'm decided I like the 395 and find the straight lines easier to make the cuts with than the big stills so time to invest. Showing my poor skills here!

Anybody got a 395 they wish to part with?

Spud can I book one in for " fettling" when I get it?

I was in the same boat as you. Ask Shavey about the dolmar. It handles really well, nice balance and feel and rips through so well. I bought a 9010 and am well pleased.

Ask him for a demo, very nice chap, he will sort you out no problem

all the best
