Chipper and operator?

Hi All,

 

Anyone sub themselves and out as 'man and chipper'?

 

I've got a CS100 which was bought for a job a couple of years ago - wondering if there's a market for it and what the pros and cons might be.

 

Does anyone do it and make a decent enough income?

"Man & chipper" is more likely to fare better as "all rounder type groundy with the bonus of a chipper".

 

Worked on a job where the guy that had the chipper as a subby, did fook all but fire up the chipper and feed it. To be fair he might of dragged a bit of brash, but no way was he fireing up a saw, despite running his own show as Tree Surgery. No team effort at all.

 

Got to say the cs 100 is a niche market, great for the job that needs it, but if you were only going to be "man & chipper" I would look at what else you bring to the table before you really advertise.

I did this during the winter. Had a 6inch old dosko to start with which was great. I sold it and bought a newish CS100 - much much harder work, it did not take much over 3/1.2 inchs. I was very busy to be honest but just did not think the 100 was up to the job - so its now sold and i am looking for a 6inch feed machine again.

 

YOU do need to go and look at EVERY job mind you to make sure the little cs100 can cope.

I dont think you will get much work with a cs100, you can hire that size chipper from alot of places for not too much. I think you would do alot better with a 6" or more and chip truck.

I think you will get plenty of work, I did. IF you take it all away as that I find is what most people want.

Was just looking on eBay at chippers to see what's about and spotted someone with a timberwolf 230 offer on a day operator and machine for £130 and a few others at similar prices, are these guys for real?? How can you afford to eat at those prices!?

I've noticed this! I suppose there looking at £650 a week - £2600 a month and thinking its a good wage
