Have been doing work for a few forest guys previously and travelled between 25-40 miles each way to job sites, done some long days and some short but only saw £50 a day.

I am just doing my 30/31 tickets and fingers crossed the following week I should be passed and ready to go, I'm wondering what sort of rate I can I try and get?

I know it's going to take a while to pick up my speed but I will be taking into account travel, using my fuel and oil and wear on the saw.

Thanks folks.

I'm self employed, £80 doesn't sound bad to me using own fuel and maybe an 8-5 day or something?

You will have to take tax, NI, fuel, travel, wear and tear on kit, holiday pay and a bit extra to cover when you are sick or you aren't booked out of that money. Take it from one who knows, £80 won't cut it. :001_smile:

How can you say that?

You have not idea what his circumstances are.

Ok, you win:001_rolleyes:

What I was trying to say was, running your own gear and travelling 50-80 miles a day for 80 quid ain't going to work out.

Huck, many lads are on £80/day.

If you're supplying saw, fuel, PPE etc. however, it simply means your options will be pretty limited.
