Day rates?

Recommended Posts

It's not hard! Set them on as subbies for the day, if they measure-up keep hold of them, if they don't move on to the next. Believe me there are good lads out there...... You need to pay them well mind. Those of us who choose to sub ain't doing it for the fun of it! We normally get brought in when companies are busy or can't do the job without us. Swings both ways!

HI EGGS some others think there only doing for FUN MATE :sneaky2:thanks BUT GOOD WORDS EGGS:thumbup1: THANKS JON

Yup, got a call on Friday 2.30 pm, blokes climber wouldn't climb rotten old poplar could I come and do it there and then for £200 cash? Course I could, if you can do something others can't charge a premium. I often enjoy subbing more than my own jobs, I tend to fret sometimes.....

It is hard, and sad as Dave said. Because you only have their word to go on to start with, and few on here ( as shown in a recent thread about inadequate labour) advocate docking wages/cutting rates due to poor performance. And the trouble is they always think they know best and don't take on board any advice/criticism, so the only way is to keep going until you find decent guys....Then there's trying to explain why you want to 'pay them less' on PAYE.....

Have you a link to that thread about 'inadequate labour' please? Or the name of the thread

I think £80 a day is good with zero overheads however with travelling & saw sulpied & running all day that price can drop low. In my experience knowledge is the most valuble thing you can take from a days work and it takes years to build up. If your learning alot its worth taking a hit. If your not learning I would say your wasting your time. With knowledge & experince you will devolp great skills and be worth alot as an employee word will get round too. Clearly speed is a big factor with production you should be safe & productive. Keep learning & working it will come. Arb talk is great source of knowledge too lol.

Thanks for that it's a great response.

I need to find the work and agree some pricing hopefully, with a 2 he round trip each day and fuel for the saw £80 doesn't go far.
