Very apt as well. Anyway, how long before Prescott sticks one on Hislop? :001_smile:

Prescott, the pillar of socialist values....

Or perhaps a gob stick in a suit (Jag/mansion/restaurant... Select as appropriate?)

But if it was a toe-to-toe, I'd say the bookies would favour 2 Jags in a slogging match with Hislop. I'd have a cheeky tenner on Hislop though, there's just a chance of a random haymaker or a sly kick in the slats to steal the deal??

Was that the Gove piece? I missed the punchline (was cooking) so didn't really get that bit??

No. It was Mr Cameron leaving his vehicle, and there was a busker/peaceful protester standing on the footpath nearby, one of Cameron's security guards went up to him and fronted him out, bully boy! No need for it!

I've been reading this thread with some interest and now I feel it the time to post after watching these clowns, err sorry party leaders on the telly.

Bear in mind this is only my opinion and as the saying goes "opinions are like arseholes and everyone has them!"

I'm originally from the same town as Nicola Sturgeon and of similar age and I laugh at her anti Tory rhetoric. This is a woman who spouts venom every time she mentions Margaret Thatchers name blaming her for everything wrong with the country. Even though her parents bought there council house for about £10k and it's now worth £150k. She and the SNP has taken the right to buy away from council tenants, but has been a strong advocate of the land reforms which allow tenants to buy there land on the estates they live on in the Highlands. In effect a compulsory purchase order. Her refusal to do any deal with the Conseratives in the commons, yet in the Scottish Parliment they were constantly working together when they were in a minority.

Now I live in County Durham and you could put Gary Glitter up for election as the Labour Party candidate and he would win in a landslide!!

I have a relation who is a lecturer in politics and he never votes, as he pointed out Milliband, Clegg, Cameron and their minions like Danny Alexander, Ed Balls and George Osborne are all ex special advisors who when they finished university went straight to work for their respective parties having never had a real job. In effect whoever gets in has to deal with the last lots policies.

So short of a revolution nothing with change!

Having said the above I would point out that the Scots are voting SNP in huge numbers as they had 18 years of the Tories and 13 years of Labour. Did anything get better for average working guy during that time? I can't think of anything. But when the SNP got their chance in the plastic Parliment in Edinburgh they made sure they set up a difference to what London could offer and the results are clear to see. Free University, free prescriptions and elderly care etc.. Having said this I wouldn't trust them to run a bath as I think Nicola Sturgeon is on a vendetta to get the English back for Thatchers reign as she point out the Scots had to put up with her and never voted for her. Now she feels the boots on her foot and she's gunning for revenge.

Maybe it's time for a change in England. Could UKIP be the difference??

Time will tell, maybe Billy Connoly is right. Don't vote....it only encourages them!!

Theres only 3 things you need to remember about politics,

1) The only man ever to enter parliment with honest intentions was Guy Fawkes

2) The government should fear the people, the people should not fear the government

3)Thier all as bad as one another and not one of them could lie straight in bed!

Missed it.

Troubled times we live in...

Too true Kevin. And very worrying it is whatever side of the fence you sit on.

Labour and the SNP, I don't like the sound of that. Conservaties and UKIP!

There are other scenarios but if we're not careful one of the above are going to be running the country, IMO.

I've mentioned this before but the "there's no Tories in Scotland" is a bit of a myth and is simply due to boundaries and the vote being split. Historically Scotland used to vote Tory and for example in last general election the SNP were only 79,000 votes ahead of the Tories. To put that in perspective that's less than 3% of all votes cast in Scotland from a total of 2.5 million. When sturgeon starts her rant about Tories having no mandate in Scotland I always wish someone would challenge her using voting stats, instead of just assuming that as Tories only have one mp she's correct.
