Can anyone ID this?

I'm about to start filling my woodshed for next year and have been given some logs. I don't know what they are but they look like decent hardwood. I also have some twigs to help with ID. Anyone help identify them and will they make good firewood?

Looks more like sweet chestnut to me.

OMG, embarrassment time no doubt...RED OAK maybe (that assumes the twigs are from the logs, otherwise I'd have guessed Beech)?

Defiantly not horse chestnut, I'd rule out beech also. Possibly sweet chestnut. Any other pictures?

Im going for sweet Ch/Nut . All that tanin in the wood .

S chestnut low grade firewood but it burns pref keep as much air going through it as pos it takes 12 months to dry properly. Sc needs to be burnt at below 18% mc anything above that and it burns poorly
