The vw is supposed to have the engine from a golf in it tuned up, that does not sound great if I'm honest, as someone else has said they are trying to get too much power out of small engines. Just my thought on it:)

Hi Richard told today it a Toyota same as thanks Jon

We had a new Hilux invincible for 6 months, total waste of time for us, couldnt carry much at all. If you can manage without 4 wheel drive and wanted a pick up with a lid, then look a a Vito with a second row of seats. Carries 6 people and on a LWB has 5 foot of van space, everything out of sight, 38 mpg when treated tidy, ours is 163 bhp and goes like stink. On all new commercials now, its worth considering a factory Tacho if going to tow, lot cheaper in factory than afterwards

In my humble opinion, we all want to look rugged and 'American' and drive a pick up truck, even I would love one.

Reality is, in the UK they just don't work. The bed is open to the elements so if everything doesn't get stolen at every set of lights, or when you pop into the supermarket for a sandwich, it will rust or sag.

Put a solid roof over it and apart from the cost, you've ruined the looks and limited the height of any goods carried to that of an MPV.

Then you've got to deal with the fuel consumption, half what you'd get in a van or MPV/Estate car.

What we all need is a van, our ego says were better than that, and so like The Fall Guy we buy a stuntman worthy 'truck' to massage our ego. And then have to leave all our tools and goodies at home so they don't get stolen.
