Chain keeps spinning on idle - husq 560xp

Hello,

 

I wander if anybody can help me??

 

I have a husqvarna 560xp and for some unknown reason the chain keeps spinning on idle.

 

I understand this model has an autotune so I cant adjust the speed.

 

What could be the reason?

 

Is it carb related or some simple adjustment I've overlooked?

Could be simply the drum bearing needs greasing, you can do this through the end of the crank, if greasing does not help, the bearing may have broken up, if not that, then a clutch spring has broken, i have also seen the centre spider break.

Chain might be too loose. Tighten it up on the bar a bit and see how it runs then.

More likely a snapped clutch spring or crud build up in the clutch drum.

All the things I would check. The only question I have of the OP is ....is the idle speed what you would call normal or is the saw racing at a higher than normal idle?

 

One addition - sometimes that plastic twine gets wrapped round the crank and impinges on the crank to drum clearance - worth checking if you have been working near this stuff.

Tried resetting the A/T as per the book ? Sounds like an air leak though .

If the saw is racing, THAT is the reason the chain is spinning.

 

Check the throttle linkage is closed properly and not snagged or catching. If this is OK, I would suspect an airleak or something has come off such as one of the connector pipes etc.

 

The autotunes will hide an airleak by adjusting for it but once it goes beyond this, it may be the death of the saw so get it checked out if it isn't the linkage or the carb come loose etc

Yes, it sound like an air leak - don't run the saw until you have found it and fixed it.

 

If the saw is an early one, the first I would check is the bar bolts.
