I thought the LDV had the same engine, clutch gearbox as the transit?

Buy a 125 then get it chipped :sneaky2:

I could be wrong, but I think the ldvs in that age bracket have the older transit engine and gearbox, ie the same as the smiley face transits, which is why i would rather have one of them.

I know someone who runs a chipped 125 crewcab, i think its up to about 155-160 hp, but eats a clutch every 8000 miles, regular as clockwork.

My mates got an 05 ldv its the 2.4 duratorque engine, eats clutches and belt tensioners this then shreds the belts and wrecks the alternator (seemingly quite common according to the garage) i have a smiley face transit never lets me down and gets from a to b ok.

I like landys Dean but even a 130 would not have anywhere near the load space of my ldv, I'd have to sacrifice the toolbox.

Also I can get a 55 plate transit with 30k on the ckock for around five grand. Five grand doesn't buy much landy unfortunately:sad: .

Something I considered once was: add 2' - 3' of chassis to your chipper ( should be quite easy ) then put a nice toolbox on there. So long as the chipper will still fire into the back of the landy being that little bit further away, and hey presto you should easy have enough room for a couple of saws and climbing kit.

I considered this when thinking about getting a landy like yours but price of 130's put me off.

I am replacing my LDV soon, and would like oppinions on the transits, I will probably go for an 04 - 06 plate depending on price. What I'd like to know is are the 90hp models any good towing with a load or the 115 or the 125? anybody got one?:001_smile:

get a daily with a big engine i have 1, & swear by it built to carry & tow :001_cool:
