No need for PPE or a harness , this guy has it under control

Similar to my early days in India, though wearing a harness and using a 200t. Too hot. Though later on boots, helmets, ear protection and face guards were used. Chainsaw trousers are still too hot. About tens years ago...

Many years ago there was a famous tree guy near where I live, Dan-John by name (if memory serves). He was completely fearless, but he couldn't climb.

 

His method of getting into trees was to climb up his wooden ladder, stand on a branch and pull the ladder up after him, then foot the ladder on the same branch and go up again. He would, so they say, do that three or four times to get as high up as he needed to be...

 

My pal was negotiating some insurance cover for a job with a broker, and he asked the broker "Do you know Dan-John? Does he ever get insurance?"

 

The broker allegedly replied: "Dan-John has an arrangement with God..."

Thank god he did that little sort of jump when he was branch walking/standing to test if it was going to hold his weight or not.....

unfourtunatlly this country has turned into a blame then claim culture, driven by greedy lawyers and corupt courts, the H&S culture does nothing to help this, a return to common sense and a relaliseation of what can happen if you screw something up, and it is your fault that it went wrong. yes we need rules and regulations, but applied with common sense , these guys in third world countries have always had common sense in bucketloads, its being lost here due to the nanny state and "cotton wool " children

Well he's keen and getting stuck into it leastways. If anyones got his number i will give him a days trial. PPE all supplied of course.

Don't think he would last long in that heat with all the gear we have to wear.

 

When I started it was just a pair of jeans hard hat and steelies if you had them:blushing: o the good old days:lol:

 

And no chain brake if you go as far back as I do. One thing that focused your mind was the severe consequences if you made a mistake.
