Compete with long standing AC, won't be any competition 😉 haha take it you heard George Lucas went bust?

I did, I was terribly sorry to hear it. Lovely bloke and a top notch employer...

Hope you do well mate, I've never understood the animosity between businesses in the same trade :)

Oh he was a cracking bloke, well lucky for me I left for contracting before he went bust and I'm glad I did as he sacked/told the two lads let by text that there was no more work and left them right in it. Couldn't of happened to a nicer bloke.

No I haven't either mate, be nice to make friends In business and work along side company's, different people can bring different elements to a job I say

I'm looking into doing some work for myself and need to attract work. Whats the best way to start with this? direct letters to possible places that I think may be interested? also how much info do I put on this initial letter ?. ]

Is it worth attempting to get work from farms, or will it be a waste of time, as they might do there own tree work although not qualified or anything.

All help will be greatly received

Get some magnetic signs made with what you do etc along with your landline and mobile numbers. Doesn't cost a lot. Doesn't matter if you got a car, small or big van, pick up you can take them off when you don't want them on. It's a start and very cheap form of start up advertising.

Get a board sign made up as well and put it up when you're doing work (like lean against the wall at the front or whatever) Only costs about 30 quid for a decent one that can stand a beat of abuse and 1 job and its paid for itself.

Also I find that people see someone doing the trees/hedges whatever and think that they need it doing. But sometimes people don't want to go up and talk to you either because they don't know what you'll say or that you'll not hear due to your ear defenders and they'll be stood their like a lemon. But if they've got a sign with your details on it then they'll probably copy them down rather than just walk on by if they want some work doing.

How many are going out to get that response? I've done a few batches of 5000 but not a great response

We're continually posting them. It forms the backbone of all our businesses really.... Furniture shops, landscaping teams and treework. We're also in yellow pages and on the internet. We also get a lot by word of mouth recommendations.

Didn't realise he went bust? Came across sound I bought a grinder off him. Lovely yard he had.
