What do you all want out of a video?

For what it's worth, if I'm watching a good ol' crash 'n' dash video after five minutes my attention strays.

 

If a vid had some more diverse footage, maybe with a little dialogue at the beginning (Reg often does this to good effect - some of his clips are more like episodes) and a few bits of the job that aren't often documented, I could watch far longer. My early morning dump alone allows me to watch 2 x 15 minute videos.

Evening all, when shooting any video the amount of time required from raw footage to finished 3 to 5 minutes can take many hours. That said I agree with the amount of time suggested since the limited attention span of most folks starts to wain after 3 minutes or so. Of course the amount of additional footage unrelated can tastefully be included. For

instance a groundie of the female persuasion well proportioned may assisting with the removal of brash and sending gear up to the climber as needed. I often find the groundie not receiving enough credit for all the hard work done, at least that is this ground dwellers opinion. Adam tell Jason I said Hi.

As people have said there are lots of vid's mainly with just seeing the cuts, take downs and of big trees. Maybe start from the deck with throw bag, setting up system, access, tie in, then moving around the canopy, redirects etc. No music I prefer my iTunes.

Yes I agree reg does post some great stuff.

 

The reason behind me posting this was something Benn had posted on another video the other night.

 

Video making does take a lot of effort and time. God only knows how much time goes into August's videos or Aces or Reg's for that matter. My 2 new videos took me the best part of 6 hours each to do, ok it's all new software for me so still getting to grips.

 

But it's the lack of response to the videos that's the main concern. Ok where not asking for every Tom dick and Harry to post nice job mate well done. Or even Christ that was so shite..

 

I just don't think people realise what some videos aim to achieve.

 

Be it for entertainment or for learning. There all aimed at someone down the line.

 

So when I ask what it is you all want to see in a video I mean this with intent to supply. So besides all the boobs that's been mentioned there has been some learning for me. At least I know what some of you want
