If you are responsible for the workers health and safety, and you run the site then you need employers liability insurance for any labour, casual or permanent.

You will if you are employing your son too as per above let alone anyone else.

At the end of the day, pay for it, get it and your covered.

I believe its worked out on the same percentage basis as normal liability insurance, so if you are doing 40%/30%/30% Landscaping/Fencing/Trees then the overall price will be lower than if you were doing 10%/10%/80%. Comes down to risk factors and risk profiling.

Ring Trust insurance and ask for Cameron for a good price too !

If you dont directly employ them you wont need employers liability insurance, I just have my labour on a self employed basis as i do seasonal work and i only need public liability insurance..

Pay should read reward, it doesn't have to be financial, if they get any benefit you are still the employer

If my son worked for me and had an accident that left him with a disability for the rest of his life I would want, and indeed encourage him to sue me....thats what EL is there for.
