Giving up without trying is easy, its a lazy mans way out.

David, don't listen to this nay sayer.

OK so you have no tickets, when I started I didn't have any, mostly because they didn't exist back then but I would have gone for it anyway. Just put them at the top of your "to do" list for the sake of keeping legit, and because many customers will require it.

No driving licence? well he is on with that.

Ending in tears is sitting in your dotage regretting having never tried.

So are you saying its a good idea to be starting up a Arb business (as his website suggests, Ya know the one that he as copy and pasted)? David's got "a" saw that might as well be made of chocolate, no means of getting about in rural Norfolk....... The list is endless!

Did you start a business without doing a few years working for other people, learning the trade?

Ending in tears is sitting on your arse, typing on Arbtalk rather than going out (every morning), on time to earn a living!..... Then wondering why you ain't got no cash.:001_rolleyes:

Personally if I was in David's position I would be looking at doing at least a couple of years with another tree firm get tickets, Driving licence etc... Save a little each month and buy some basic tools then start working weekends and summer evenings on your own jobs until you have a small client base before taking the step and go it alone.

Just my opinion...

It's got to be said. David, give up! Your in a dream world. You've no tickets, no driving license, and from what you have posted not a pot to piss in. Go and get a Job!!

I'm sorry to sound harsh fella, but I can see this venture of yours ending in tears.

Harsh but true!

:thumbup1: Or start a grass cutting business, A name such as Norfolk Tree Care sounds like you'll be able to do anything to any tree anywhere in Norfolk. I very much doubt you can David.

:thumbup1: Very true, but theres also being being optimistic and realistic.

Optimistically i'd love to be a male porn star banging all those dirty, skanky, fake breasted tarts, Realistically my sausage isn't near big enough for a start.

Start smaller David, and work your way up.

He has got experience but not much, driving test re booked and last I herd he was looking for a top handled saw.

Its unorthodox but if he cant find a job, and he has offered free labour, that's the only option

So that last paragraph, is that me or David you are slighting?

You're a nice guy Flatters.

Not everyone would give advice to the opposition.

Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

The way I see it is there's a pie and everyone is entitled to a piece.

Although I only do about 3 jobs a year that way so I'm not bothered about giving some free advice.

Come to the game and country fair in April as its all about networking in business. Someone might own some specialist kit that you might need to contract it one day.

You say can't get a job, When I first started up I worked the doors to get that bit of extra cash to buy and upgrade saws / tools etc I think you need the security of regular money until at least you have got the basic tools.
