Landrover hydraulics

Righto now that some thieving b@@@@@d has helped themselves to the hydraulic power pack i run my logsplitter with i,m thinking of fitting a hydraulic pump to my landrover td5 130 ive got a belt driven pump with a magnetic clutch but its made for v belts and the vehicle is a flat belt, anybody done anything like this???

I tried belt driven hydraulics on a cherry picker and it seemed to need the belts replaced and tightened all the time, I have gone the hydraulic PTO route off the back of the transfer box now, trouble free

Cheers bob any idea where i can get one and do they take much fitting? I,m thinking of having spool valve out the back and making a bracket so the logsplitter can be attatched to the towbar.

If the transfer box is the same sort of thing as the earlier 90/110 landies I might have one in the stores that will fit. You will still need a tank etc.

For all the hassle, and the fact that it will cost white diesel to run, you're much better off just getting another power pack. You could get a second hand one for what it would cost you in bits to adapt the landy, never mind your time.

Yeah i am keeping all options open i just liked the idea of my land rover and logsplitter being a self contained unit, mobile logsplitter!

I stand to be corrected here bob but i think the tranfer boxes are the same on the 77 box and the 38?? Did your setup take much fitting?

I had the same problem when I put a powerpack on the sawbench, basically the pulleys have to be so large a diameter for the belt to take the torque of any large pump that it's impractical without multi vee belts.

 

Having said that the Ahwi had Vee belts and that delivered all the 400hp.

One of my mates has got a hydrolic winch on his utility 110 & he had it pipped up for running tools etc but the place that fitted them didn't recommend running a long splitter for any length of time becouse the hydro tank is very small and would get very hot,

I was thinking of doing the same on my 110 cherry picker as it's got a large hydro tank & can run all day no prob but like already said its cheeper & easer to just run of a porta pack,
