I've always wondered, if you went for a 'stunt fell' instead of a dismantle, and the tree went sideways and wiped out a conservatory or something, would an insurance co. pay out, or would they argue that you should have taken more reasonable precautions?

There will be a “reckless” condition requiring you not to expose the underwriter to unnecessary risk. They will probably pay out the third party but may well recover the money from you.

It's public liability, employers liability, all of the tractors, diggers, chippers and other machinery but I'm sure we could get it cheaper. I was about to start looking around for other quotes anyway.

sorry to be slightly off topic, but is it possible to get temporary public cover? (ie for a certain number of days, over a weekend etc)

 

im pretty sure you would have to get it for 12months but im not 100% certain about that.
