Was it showing low oil pressure or something?

Yeah oil light kept coming on as the pick up filter was all sludged up, got to Say it worked ,also as tree swinger said about turbo oil lines I thought it could not do any harm as long as it was well flushed after.

I've used Forte flush on both the Hi Lux and Hi Ace , both high mileage and going well .

I recon it can't do any harm ? Guys I know have had turbo failures not flushing , so I'll keep using it .

Yes it fair to say that a flush can well remove some of the well-baked-on polymerics in a turbo oil feed screen / filter; susbequent distribution of said muck though - where? Turbo shaft fully-floating bearing tolerances are v small.

On idle and not full tilt I can't see it being a problem... It would be like a well lubricated wash :) essentially diesel is oil any way I'm not sure I would put any additives or cleaners in though after my last experience of trying to flush a cooling system and the crap that stayed in afterwards.

If it's bad and you flush it it can dislodge the baked on crap but not come out the sump, then when you refill and the crud is floating about in the sump and the oil pick up pipe try's to draw it up and it gets blocked- no oil pressure

A bit of info off the top of my head so bear with me for accuracy.

I have a 1967 John Deere diesel tractor. In the owners manual it recommends

draining oil and refilling with diesel.

Crank the engine over with the mechanical fuel shut off pulled out.

Turn with starter motor but do not start engine.

Drain.

Fill with fresh oil and change filter.

Bearing in mind that oil back then was much cruder technology and alot less additives were used.

Also this same tractor had a fuel problem once and I bled it alot over successive attempts (I was young and full of optimism. Both have now diminished!) I knew that a "bit" of diesel had got passed pistons in to the sump. But I got the tractor going it revved high and would not shut off. It was burning the sump diesel. I did stop it by engaging gear and stalling it. How would you stop an automatic transmission or a chipper if this happened??

My other thought regarding engine flush products is

A friend was a salesman for Forte and asked if I would be interested in engine flush?

Why whats the benefits?

Extends engine life etc

But the vehicle will rot before Ive used half the engines mileage!

However the importance of clear passage for oil and airflow is not to be ignored.

I know of a komatsu bulldozer that seized on cylinder number 4 3 times on the trot with low hours. When the komatsu mechanic came out the 3rd time he had an apprentice with him, he found him a couple of parts to go off and clean. One of which was the crankcase breather which was thoroughly plugged and the cause of the engine failure each time!
