3/8 050 gauge 5/32 file, .325 3/16 file, 3/8 7/32 file, buy youself the Husqarna roller guides to sharpen , they are simple and work well, try to sharpen the chain on the saw, its easier to clamp the bar in a vice, not a lover of chain grinder for all the reasons other people have given

On a large job we get one person who keeps the saws touched up all the time alongside all the other jobs such as re-fuelling etc.

Agree about perfecting your sharpening skills - once learnt, never forgotten

We plan never to let saws get dull - very cost effective and have spare saws onsite so no downtime.

A forestry cutter with 30yrs experience taught me and tapped all the cutters. Used to use a rigid back Stihl guide - but all freehand now using a Stihl heavy duty log vice on the job.

Use every millimetre on every chain.

Bought an Oregon chain breaker and rivet spinner at 100ish each and coils of chain. Never looked back.

Good luck.

Did same as yourself. Good to have the flexibility if you run a variety of bar lengths. I would go with the Husky roller type guides if you're not used to sharpening - they're near enough idiot proof. When you get good at sharpening you'll not only save time you'll be able to do it whilst ballroom dancing
