Just put your cashpoint (hazard) lights on and park on the pavement, that's what seems to happen round here. It's extra points if you can block my dropped kerb at the same time like a lot of people try to do.

Cheers for the advice chaps, I'll give the traffic department at the council a ring and see what they say.

I phone the council and get special dispensation for however long needed.

+1. Some councils charge you for it too. Manchester a charge is £32 from memory so factor in for an extra charge to your customer.

I just price the parking ticket in the job now if there's no other parking option. If you get one no great loss if you don't there's a bit extra money in the pot. I've tried speaking with my council and they are the most unhelpful when it comes to parking even as a contractor. I have even told them that I would drag a load of old conifer a few streets a way to my parked truck making a mess everywhere and even then there were indifferent about it.

You are allowed to stop on double yellows for the purposes of loading and unloading as long as the activity is continuous

So get the first branch cut quickly and have a slow groundy feeding the chipper and loading the back with chip all day

Where about in Suffolk are you based?

I'm just over the border near Stoke by nayland but spend a lot of time in Colchester which is when I seem to find all the jobs with yellow lines and no parking anywhere nearby!! Most of my other work is out in the country so I don't have the problem with parking.

Depends what trade your in! for instance in my town if your name is Patel or such like and you deliver for a takeaway/pizza place you can seemingly park fully on the footpath even when pedestrians are forced to walk in the road to get passed your rusty old Micra of dubious MOTage So just dress funny and leave a pizza box on the dash you will be fine:thumbup:
