my mate got his loler'd with the snap hook.....

also :confused1:

Right,A snap hook would pass loler if it functioned properly,I would also make a comment on the loler inspection sheet that it was not approved in Arboriculture as its not industry best practice to use it.So if its used in a system i could fail it.

Not sure what any other loler inspectors think.

Has there ever been (m)any accidents from the use of snaphooks in tree work as a lanyard? I personally dont like them but dont see them as being any less safe than a standard crab.

Didnt snap hooks get band in nz?

i think it was kinda talked about but im pretty sure there ok for use in nz. there was an article in Tree Matters mag last month.

yeh i read that,i started out with a snap hook and got told i should be using a 3-way krab,at first i thought it would be really hard to use a biner one hand instead off a snap, but soon got used to a 3way biner :001_cool:

when ross taylor was down working with me for 4 days he saw my strop thats just like yours also with a snap hook and he said that as a qualified LOLER inspector he would fail it as its not fit for purpose as the snap hook is not 3 way so i got rid of it last wekend when a bought a new set up form jonesie ,:confused1:

Really! how strange, i got my set up from trees unlimited in Leeds complete with snap hook from a long time tree climber and LOLER inspector!

great bit of kit and totally safe.

Goes to show even LOLER inspectors cant agree on whats good or not!
