Cheers for the link mate. They sound really good if a bit pricey. Have you tried them out? I also play drums in a heavy metal band too so may come in handy there too:001_smile:

We had this company visit us last week. We've got a pair of personal ear protectors on order for one of our engineers who is constantly working with grinders etc. Price : approx £120. Very cool alternative to sweaty ear defenders in a workshop environment! He should get them in a couple of weeks time, so will let you know how he gets on with them..... (We can of course offer this product to our customers, :sneaky2:)

I bought the Vertex Vent with the Stihl attatchments. Like the visor action but really struggle closing the ear defenders;these also feel flimsy compared to the Husky ones I've had previously.

Think I'll be switching to Sordin or Peltor's. I want chipper suitable ear defenders so what do you knowledgable people recommend?

I like the Petzel Vertx Vent.I bought a new one from Jonesie with some grade five Ear Defenders.Total Brilliance!

I wish I had used Grade five Defenders from day one, they are abit more bulky when the Defenders are off your ears and riding the top of your helmet. But the noise reduction when they are over your ears is supurb.

yvonne, how does the altios differ to the ellios? it appears to look the same?

The Altios is quite different to the Elios Steve. (Elios looks quite basic in design). It seems like all round wearer comfort has been addressed in the Petzl design remit especially with regards to ventilation, with the Climate Control System and the hybrid suspension system (sounds like the spec for a new car!!). See info below from Petzl:

The ALTIOS' hybrid suspension system, composed of a mesh panel and expanded polystyrene liner, makes this helmet extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear. Thanks to this innovative design, the helmet ‘floats' above the head for a near-weightless feeling. The space between the head and the liner allows for effective ventilation with the Climate Control System. Durable ABS shell. This helmet is very ergonomic, adapting to any head shape

To show you the helmet in action, here's a link (and it'll show you how to get the job done properly! :001_tongue:). Tree Climbing Euro Championships
