TW125 problem

The flywheel sensor on mine was at fault . Which caused similar problems to yours . The problem was that the sensor box had some water in it . After draining and drying then spraying with a quality wd40 all was good . I wonder if they powerwashed your machine after the service ?

 

How do I get to it mate? Exploded diagram in the manual is pretty unclear.

 

I'm looking at it from all angles.

To be fair to the dealer, performance had dropped off pre-service, which I put down to tired filters etc., but nowhere near as bad as the last two days disastrous levels.

Look under the drive belt cover Mark, what you are looking is a "gear wheel" mounted on the fly wheel shaft behind the three drive belts. The sensor counts the teeth on the wheel as it turns so it has to be very close (3mm?) to the wheel to pick up the teeth.

As other lads said check the belt tenison's. I think the relays are mounted in a box bolted to the plastic roller cover? Damp in the relays could screw up the no stress system.

I just got a TW125 last month and so far I have been impressed, hope find the fault. Best of luck, Rob

The reason I've always rated this machine is that it has so much grunt for such a lightweight.

I've used loads of 150s, and have never found the 125 much further behind on performance, apart from maybe chipping cord, which we tend not to do.

I'm extremely sad in that I actually enjoy chipper maintenance, and have 5 sets of blades that are swapped out sooner rather than later.

As per other advise I'd check belts first, then maybe the flywheel speed sensor. Then assuming fuel filters are ok, I'd replace the relay, or see if it's a faulty ECU? (Just had to do my 2006 150 ECU apparently not uncommon on pre 2009 machines)

 

There's a bypass in the stress control unit that bypasses the no stress- may help work out if the no stress or something else is at fault?

I had a similar problem with mine once after I power washed it. Turned out the relays got wet, took them out, dried & cleaned the connectors worked fine after.

As said before, check that there is no crap between the flywheel & sensor.

Check all the electrical connections also including the control box on top of the hopper.

If it was working well before the service it's likely to be something really simple.

I have a refurbed TW125 with a 25hp honda engine, actually it was originally a TW127, built like a 150 but lighter, its a worthwhile upgrade if the 20hp lets got as it chips noticeably quicker with the extra hp.
