Round the houses, = trousers ( tried to type it as its said, looked rubbish)

My favourite sentence is

Me an a China went fer a ball down the frog to the battle, had a couple a pigs, bell'd the trouble to pick us up in the jam jar, and take us to me chinas drum

 

Translation to follow :-D got to go out

 

China = China Plate = Mate

Ball = Ball of chalk = walk

Frog. = Frog and Toad = Road

Battle = Battle Cruiser = Boozer ( Pub for our colonial cousins)

Pigs. = Pigs Ear. = Beer

Bell. = Phone

Trouble = Trouble and Strife= Wife

Jam Jar = Car

Drum = Drum and Bass = Place ( house, flat,)

I thought Pone was " Dog " .........."..Dog and Bone " = phone ? You say "bell " to ring someone ..I'll bell you . The actual phone itsef is a Dog .

Jim, neither :laugh1: I'm actually a Man of Kent, but my accent is London,

so much so that I confuse Londoners when they ask what part of "the smoke" I'm from, most of them put me south of the river, correct, but not far enough south, short by 75 miles :laugh1:

My grandfather was a true Cockney though, but I never met him as he died before I was born, Dad reckoned I'm his reincarnation :laugh1: as dads accent was Kent
