When can you justify a 4x4 arb truck.

I put a tonne and a quarter of topsoil on mine, (weighed on a weigh bridge) it was like driving a boat, sitting right on the bottom of the springs. Genuinely dangerous, 25mph max.

The idea of another 3/4 of a tonne is unthinkable.

If that is a picture of 2 tonne of chip on your lr. Then sorry, I don't belive you. Even if it is, the idea it was "no bother" is dubious.

Mine will hold 1200kg and be very close to 3.5t gross and it drives fine like that whilst towing, also they hold more than most 3.5t trucks LEGALY....this is the key, if your not convo earned about that then a transit with 6 cube box is fine. But if your working at a decent rate any 3.5t vehicle will have to tip 3+ times per day.

That sounds like a hell of a collection!!! You have what I would like!!! Maybe in years to come! I think the landrover tipper is looking to be the clear winner at the moment. What is the best platform for a tipper? A hi cap or 110 pick up? Can't afford to buy a new chassis can direct from LR.

I thought all the pick ups were hicap ? Either way you need something with the 3.5t gross weight to build from then ripping off whatever is on there and putting a tipper and subframe in should be fairly simple.

i had a 130 tipper.

Put uprated shocks and springs on it as it was terrible.

Was fine after that.

Could hold loads ( though it did have a transit body fitted).

Only thing wrong is it broke down EVERY damn month.

had to get rid of it as couldnt justify the expense. Next guy along near as damn it had a new truck.

The transit i had had 1 £20 pipe go on it. Nothing else. Prob why the local gypsies nicked it a year later!

I have seen 110 pick ups with the 1/2 width tailgate not hi caps

The long and short of it is there is no one perfect arb truck.

To have the perfect balance of payload, 4x4, tipper, crane? you will be running a 10 tonner, or a mog, then comes fuel bills and other size related headaches.

I rekon the bang tidy comes close, but then how can you justify the price tag???

Land Rover tippers don't hold diddly squat, you'll spend the whole day doing runs to your tip.

Funny that, last 110 tipper we used would legally carry a full box of chip and drove fine. Yes it was sat down a bit but nowhere near the bumpstops. That was a 3 cube box from memory.

As far as I've read on here, 3 cube's about as much as any other 3.5T tipper's going to legally carry.

The only thing that the 110 was a bit of a pig for was not having anywhere to store gear.

For versatility it was by far the best vehicle I've worked with as it would do everything it needed to, admittedly not great at everything, but it did it.

For me it was when I got stuck on customers drives (mud tracks really) last year & had to be towed.

I have found that the versatility of a 4x4 far out ways the hassle of getting stuck over chip box volume.

Personally as much as I like the look of the Navara, Hilux etc etc, for me I would be too worried it would get tatty real quick with the shiny bumpers & chrome bits, so it was either a defender or ps10.

Anybody running a 'Great Wall'? Looks very similar to an Isuzu Rodeo that I used to have.

I was privy to a TRL road test/crash test of one of the and it was a death trap, build/materials quality was poor to be polite. I personally wouldn't even get in one.
