I have a beard and a couple of years ago I turned up at a house to quote for some work, upon opening the door, the lady shouts out to the family in the back of the house "Yep, he does have a beard". :confused1:

On asking why she shouted that out, she pointed out that all good tree blokes should have beards and that they wouldn't trust one that didn't.....

Suffice to say we got the job

I shaved my 4 week old beard off this morning after a few comments from the younger members of staff like 'father christmas is around early this year' and inside the house mrs oldwoodcutters observation of 'a scruffy old mans moved in'.

Had the same a couple of months back comments from the boss and the other half about me looking scruffy, mind had'nt had time for a haircut since spring either which did'nt help, other half has now decided she likes the beard so I'm cultivating it but I'm beginning to think it ws reverse psychology as trimming it every day seems to take longer than having a shave :laugh1:

I think this touches a bigger point.

There are many people who have to put immense effort into their appearance as they are not happy how they look / how they feel / excessively concerned with how they appear t others (not talking about the Italians whose bella figura mind set produces very stylish people).

Whereas there is another group of people who are happy who they are (and with themselves) and care less who they appear to other people. A high concentration of these people are found at the APF.
