Are you going to tackle it yourself? Iv done a few of those over the years, and they've all been a challenge. Definitely not a job for someone inexperienced.

If it can be winched then I'll tackle it but not sure how strongly attached it is if it all.

May need a bit more cutting. Light was failing when I spotted it so I'll get a better idea in the morning.

I felled a willow a bit like that, wasn't much holding it together so I spiked up and attached a 5 metre sling above and below the break, then put the winch line onto that. It disintegrated as it came over but it all pulled out fine.

I used a bore cut with a release so I was well out of the way before winching.

set the winch at right angls to the detached part and shear the top from the standing part. if too strongly attached to shear then you may need to put in a felling cut on stem and pull over sideways(risky but leave a massive hinge)

That sounds good. If it won't come away I can spike up and set a high winch strop on the fir. The site suits a sideways pull.

Thanks all.

If you get it wrong, this could happen, or worse :blushing:

Those safety razors are a nightmare aint they? :sneaky2:

On a serious note trees hung up like that are very dangerous, get someone who knows what there doing is my advise.......sometimes even that's not good enough.

Spikes.

Spear cut at 20' on tree A.

Film it.

Post it if you still can.

Seriously, winch all the way, with a strop choked around the butt of the bottom of the top section of the Douggie if you can place it safely.
