Used to be out of bed for 4.15am, on the pushbike for 4.40am to start work at 6. Didn't need the alarm clock after a few weeks of it. I live happily on 6 hours or less. Been up half an hour now and that's on my day off!

In winter, felling work dictates my clock - basically cutting from first light 'til dusk. My Wifes shift pattern of either 6:30am start or 13:30 means that in general, my body clock wakes me up at 6ish, sometimes earlier - very rarely can I lie in even if I want to. If I wake any time after 5am that's it, mind starts whirring - gotta get up. Trouble is I need 8-9 hours a night sleep meaning early bedtimes - I wish!

It's an age thing - the oder you get the less you need. That would put you in your early twenties then...!:001_tongue:

Wrong! Mid thirties. Haven't needed less sleep as I've got older, rather the opposite. Can't take less kip like I used to. Having suffered insomnia before and having a nurse wife who is very proactive in health research, the current research shows that sleep is divided into 90 minute segments. Thus everyone should be getting a minimum of 7.5 hours a night. Thus if that's not enough, it needs to be 9. Hours before midnight is an old grannies tale but rapidly proving to be true as is routine...

Blimey, there's a lot of it about. Struggled on 4-5 hours as a teenager and married to nursey now. Got a few years on you though - hitting the half century next May.

Now, for my early evening ziz...
