Yes but economically it is still more more money and more effort hence obese people don't want to spend the money and time to make the effort. Easier to pay £2 pound oven on and wait!! Vicious cycle. Healthy people will pay more for fresh healthy rather than frozen equivalent and won't mind cooking it! It makes sense really.

Make that with fresh ingredients for £1 like for like?!

 

It isn't going to happen, a lot of people choose or have to buy this type of food to save money or simply to get by, to say you can eat like for like from fresh ingredients for anywhere near similar money is just wrong!

Simples

 

Rice is cheap as chips, and when cooked counts for almost half of the 500g weight in the meal. The most expensive item is the chicken -12% of 500g is 60g, cost less than 50p even if you buy it ready cooked. Remainder of ingredients are either spices, seasoning, milk, onion, cooking oil or flour - which most kitchens should have as stock items anyhow!
