Iv had 4 saws off Dougie and they were all either the same or cheaper then I could find online.

I don't know where I'm going to hire a chipper now:thumbdown:

Bloody shame! Where we are, trying to get anything delivered is a lottery (especially if it's Yodel - idiots!) Wouldn't touch Abbey (not so) Pro, hopefully, Dougie will keep his hand in on a smaller scale and online.

He may still be hiring them from his base in Milton abbot Matt.

Ha ha yes that collie is as mad as a bag of badgers.

OP If nothing in Cornwall try Abbey Pro in Tavistock. Never had any problems with them myself but other have had when ordering online. 40+ miles closer than Radmoor and Tucker.

There was / is a place on Polkyth Rd St Austell CIS weathergear that did have some ropes , boots , safety gear etc Have not been past it for a while though . I would imagine the lack of supply shops is due to internet shopping as happens in so many cases !!

CIS have given up on the arb gear. Sold the last of it on eBay last year. Still good for general work wear tho.

Dougie said he was staying in shop at Tavi until December but not renewing the least after that. Great shame, great guy, helped me out no end and a sad loss to 'shop' arb gear (and advice, and banter, and abuse!) - no good moaning about a shop closing if you buy gear online though. It's like when a pub closes, everyone says what a pity but if you don't use it, you lose it!

I'd like to echo both these thoughts.

Doug Bennet - Top Man, ditto Liz, Fran, Weaner, Big Stu, Big Al and all the others who worked and helped out over the years in the shop or in the tent at shows. Was reminiscing at the weekend about the kerfuffle at Lockerbie and talking about the little shop/unit up the hill....Very best wishes for the future to you all.

Use them or loose them is a good mantra too.

Thanks for all the replies, I couldn't find the time to venture north of the border as had a lot of family commitments, and pasty munching to do. Rowes pasties in Truro have slipped a bit I feel, but Annes pasties behind mallets of truro were proper ansome. Some flipping emmet was asking about Ginsters at the till! If you like Badger in your food carry on London boy!

The overall range of arb/forestry tools was poor in all of the shops I visited. Although these were ag shops for the most part, like Truro tractors and sadly the prices were very high on the kit they did have, with little or no room for negotiation. However, I did have a great time at Macsalvors at Pool (always do) and grabbed a load of hand tools like forks and rakes....................if only they opened a store here!!

Dangerous to engage in the great pasty debate!

Horse & Jockey (Helston) (most random name for a shop that specialises in pasties - maybe topically relevant though!) is the best in Cornwall - that is an indisputable FACT!

NFG-"Made me smile that quote about Ginsters!"

About 15 years ago I was at college in Callington near to where they are "made" and their vans would head out at night scouring the A30 for road kill, just ask your self, how much road kill do you see on the A30 between Bodmin moor and Oakhampton????? not a lot.
