Stress of the job

If you are worried about stuff while you are laying in bed at night, get up (or do it before bed) and write down everything you are worried about. Then you can tell yourself you'll deal with it in the morning.

This always works for me.

Also there some good relaxing sounds apps available that will help you drift off.

Hope that helps :)

Yep this works for me too.

Make an action plan with bullet points and then give them an order number.

Right tomorrow i must do this priority number 1 etc.

Contented that you have done something about the issues then sleep is easily attained :thumbup1:

stress...what is this word..having served as an eod/iedd operative in the forces stress in civi street doesnt exist, when you shut the front door behind you at night, nothing matters till you go out it the next morning, establish two distinct areas to your life, work and family, and NEVER let the two conflict, and most importantly remember one golden rule....family comes first.

And how exactly do you feed your family if business is not going well?????

Its having family and caring about them that makes most worry about their business.

IMO.

Agrimog I agree with you but it takes a certain set of experiences to develop the "I am safe therefore all is good" mentality. A mindset I wouldn't like to acquire afresh but now I have it I use it as it sounds do you. EOD op, hats off dude never fancied that job i am to clumsy and not brave enough.

I dare say that all of us that run a business get what we nowadays call stressed out, sometimes without realising it. Often its only when a loved one picks up on it and accuses you of being stressy a few minutes after you've walked over the doorstep that it hits home and a few minutes sitting down with a cuppa is all thats needed to restore calm again.

But of course stress can much more severe than that. As said, doing something completely unrelated to your business can work wonders.

how do you care for the family when things go wrong...... everyone has slow periods when work isnt good, things go wrong, etc, many years ago I was introduced to a system by an old boy who'd worked for himself forever, price your job carefully, allow a percentage for "rainy days", set up 3 accounts, normal day to day business acount, tax, and rainy day, if you get £ 100 in, 50 into 1st, 30 into 2nd, and 20 into last, and work that way, never touch the last one unless the wolves at the door, and youll be fine, and it works, and works well, and the final good advice he gave me "never trust a bean counter, find out for yourself", I'll leave that bit up to your own interpretation, but have you ever seen a poor accountant ?
