sad end to a big laburnum

this lovely laburnum tree in my garden was heavily diseased and finally gave in and split in 3 different ways at the main folk never seen a laburnum as big as this one before, anyone have any thoughts about size of this one???

the woodturners will be queing up mate, good size. i have come across some big ones myself. usually fighting for light with younger trees around them, i have done some around the 40feet mark, max about 2 feet across the base. heavy as hell. beautiful wood. shame you lost it

oppps to late already ringed and split now wudnt hav thought was tht good the stem, it had heart rot through the middle of stem

wudnt no the first place to go to sell it round here we had a 21foot dead straight oak stem no knots bout 2/3foot diameter all way nd would have cost us money for some1 to take it off are hands guess thats y i dont bother with trying sell wood

My Grandma has a dead one for me to take down, approx 8" dia butt.

 

Worth keeping then?

 

Castle Donnington, Derbs. - bit of a hike for me! So if anyone wants the job they can 'do it for the wood'! Small job, commercially about £120.

Did a similar thing last year with a spalted sweet chestnut... ringed up and onto the firewood heap and then one of my mates told me it would have been worth really good money for turning bowls etc. Gutted!
