Under Glastir Advanced they have offered some financial support to get some tree surgery done so will be interesting to find out their rates & terms, eg; They pay per day.... but how long is a day?!

Will post back here as soon as we find out.

Thankyou to everyone for giving guideline prices, is very helpful.

£400 -450 is what we work on for two men and a chipper, a little more if it's a tracked chipper.

Thats a good day rate, here in Shropshire I charge £175 a day, thats just myself, PPE, Various Climbing Kit etc.

I don't have a Chipper, if i did the day rate would more likely be £200- 225..

Yes Ranger it is but we shouldn't work for less. I'm going to start using Aspen fuel so will be looking to up the day rate a little more to account for additional costs.

If the extra cost of Aspen for a chainsaw worries you on that day rate, then I suggest you analyse your other costs!!

Does your second man (rescue climber) work for free then?

A flat £300 here on Bute, that's £100 for the groundie (no kit), £150 for the climber and £50 for the Kit, insurance etc.

Just ordered a chipper, I'll be looking to run that at £75 a day, which is less than the £90 I've been paying the farmer per load of brash in a tractor trailer, and I have use for the chip (as I no bugger sells them on the island!).

I think I'm running too cheap. I certainly am in terms of gardening work at £12/hr (which is flat out at the moment).

Second that. £390 for 2 men and chipper, £450 for 3 men so boss takes hit on that. I know of a gang in PLY who were doing 4 man days for under £300. :001_rolleyes: Glad to be well out of arb work, with the exception of looking after long-term customers.

£330 two grounds and chipper

£390 two climbers and chipper

So same ish as TCD

I really don't know how some of you can sustain a business on prices like £ 390 for 2 climber and a chipper? So as well as public and employers liability insurance do you have tools/chipper/trailer insured? Van insurance? Running costs, servicing, road tax etc? No wonder our industry is in such a state with prices like that. I'm not having a dig at anyone I am just surprised you can run a business on such low rates.

I totally agree, what about depreciation service costs , add your in your time for quoting jobs as well.Until we as an industry start charging realistic and sustainable prices which enable us to build a business and have a decent lifestyle were never going to be recognised as a true industry. What happens when you need to replace kit or get hit with a big repair bill on truck or chipper ,think what can I get for doing the job not what can I do it for ,other industries do .
