  1. Thats a good day rate, here in Shropshire I charge £175 a day, thats just myself, PPE, Various Climbing Kit etc. I don't have a Chipper, if i did the day rate would more likely be £200- 225..
  2. The Tree Doc is a nickname that some of my college mates used to call me as i was one of those know it all types, and knew nothing. Seriously though, your work is very unique, a deffinate sell at the Arb shows and the APF etc.
  3. I like that I'll have one of those and engrave The Tree Doc on it, folk will pay good money for Art like that..
  4. I may be wrong, but doesnt the Forestry Comission require you to Burn trees infected with Phytophera, to prevent cross contamination etc..
  5. I had a similar interview about 10,11 years ago, a Forester who had advertised for a Labourer. I turned up at the Woodlands he was working at and found my future employer piling up Brash and organising Cordwood, i was advised to hold on whilst he finished said task, then his Mobile rang and he informed me he had to take the call, so assesing the situation i piled the Brash into neat piles, stacked and sorted the Cordwood acording to size, and was about to stack a few logs, but he had finished his call. He took a look at the Brash pile and Cordwood, looked at me, scratched his head, then in typical Alan Sugar style uttered those immortal words "Your Hired". I was with him for about 7 yrs, he even took the time off at weekends to have an Arborist freind of his teach me Tree Climbing etc. I now work as a Gardener and Freelance Climber, well almost i would class myself as Freelance if it wasn't for the fact i have yet to gain my Sectional Dismantling Ticket, so its more of a case of Groundy than climber.. By the way i charge £125 per day, have a good Equipment Hall and full PPE and own Vehicle..
  6. Hi. Cant realy tell from the picture what it is, from what i can see though it looks like a Hornbeam or Aspen, and without properly looking at it, would be difficult to do a Quote, as a Rough Guide i would charge around the £150-200 mark. Where abouts in the UK are you based?.
  7. Welcombe to the Forum, probably the best Tree related Forum on the net, and well done to a Brave Move. Never been to Croatia, my Travel haunts are Canada and the Pacific NorthWest (Oregon, Seatlle etc) it looks a Great place to live though..
  8. Same here, i had a call this Morning from the Parks/Woodland Officer from our area Wildlife Trust (Which im a Volunteer Warden For) If needs be i will probably go out over the next few days. Lots of people walk our local Woodlands/Parks on Christmas/Boxing day.
  9. Had my SJ for about a year now, mines the SJ 2 with the Dyneema, its been through countless clutches and about 4 new Ropes. Now i've mastered it, its great fun, it's teamed up with a ART Primus. Now that is a serious good rope anchour.
  10. Thiis is a prety unusuall second job, im a Landscape Architech in training and Carer to my Autistic Nephew (Orphaned)
  11. Ditto that, Sellers who regularly sell on Ebay, especially Power Sellers have a good reputation to keep and maintain, it only takes 1 bad feedback rating and that reputation has gone. I often buy on Ebay, mostly from Reputable Dealers such as Fletcher Stewart, Gustharts etc, who often sell off surplass stock. You can get Cracking Brand New goods on Ebay..
  12. I use the new 2.1 Dyneema, and absolutely love it. I use the Spiderjack for small-medium tree's and the Hitch Climber system for Large tree's and Conifers/Pines as its more versitile, been using the SJ for about 4 mnths and has certainly cut down production time..
  13. Me too, im from Romany Gypsie stock on my Dads side. My Great Grandmother was a Gypsie Rose Lie, from Cork
