Large Slabs

Hi, not sure where to post this but I'm looking to source large slabs of any hardwood (Oak, Ash, Walnut etc) for turning into tables and desks.

 

Ideally looking in the North West of England although happy to travel for the right pieces. Dried or undried.

Got plenty of slabs but too far (I am in south) - how far is Big J from you? I'm sure he'd be able to oblige!

Cheers Rob I'll bear that in mind when I'm next down your way. Looks like Big J is up Edinburgh way. Would be interested to hear from him to see what he has.

I'm not local, but it would help to know how large would you like (length x width x thickness ranges) and any preference on species?

Bella Wood can probably offer more dried that I can. Whilst I can cut large boards, I usually try to avoid it. All the large logs I get are whittled down with the chainsaw mills to manageable bits for the bandsaw.

 

Happy to cut to order though if you are stuck.

Cheers folks. I'm looking for anything Elm, Oak, Ash, Walnut etc.

 

In terms of size, minimum would be 2.5ft width, 4ft length, 1 or 2 inch thick

 

Willing to travel for the right pieces, particularly if a good grain/ripple...
