Uniforms

I always have my groundie wearing hi vis, after a guy I used to work with (note used to) walked in to a drop zone while I was on the back cut of a 30' top without looking up (the last thing I'd said to him was get clear, which he did). As I say, now they always have to wear them. It's amazing how often i just see a glimpse of it through foliage and know where they are. I keep meaning to have some orange polo shirts made up to make the halfway, but the hi vis ones look good.

As for singlets, why not go by a travelers camp and nick them from their washing lines? It may make up for all our kit they nick!

hi vis or no hi vis, corporate clothing or bring your own, I'll wear what ever but as soon as the temp gets too hot and the clothing makes me too hot and starts to make me feel sick or affect me ability to do my job through heat exhaustion I'll whip the knife out and cut the collar and sleeves off to get the job done.

I know company's want to look good through having a uniform and I totally get that....

but as long as the job gets done well, and professionally and the customer is happy that's all that counts

No to vests, image thing to potential clients again, hi viz is for roadside but got orange breathable polo's and sweatshirts stitched up with company name and often get positive comments about it and the safety easy to spot thing is also good but a pain when you need a discreet pee in a hedge.

I'm a bit surprised people are so anti vests and think the public have such a negative view of them, What about tatoos, piercings even facial stubble ? My old man allways tells me to get rid of the face fungus as he calls it whereas I dont think he'd blink if I wore a vest.

Kinda how I feel about vests tbh, I wouldn't consider wearing one out of work but if it's a hot day and makes it more comfortable why not?

What do people think goes through clients heads "Well they did a great job with my trees and cleared up so well you wouldnt know they've been but they were wearing vest's so wont be using them again"

Pmsl, so true

If you are doing domestic work a polo or a cotton t-shirt will do they look far better than the hi-viz t-shirts I've had to wear in the past and obviously hi-viz for roadside/construction/utilities. I'd avoid those stein hi-viz tops they're expensive and you stink in them it's like working in a football top
