Arb Trolley worth it or not!

Gonna go against the grain here and say ours rarely comes out the container now, most of our work is smallish gardens with tight access and it tends to be more trouble than its worth, on top of that we often struggle to get in on our already overloaded transit at the end of the day.

 

Long drags with good access are where they come into their own and we'd never get rid of it but it doesnt get as much use as expected.

 

If they made a narrower and lighter version just for brush it might suit us better, its just too bulky and heavy.

 

Agreed, it sometimes doesn't see the light of day for a month... but then bosch... it's there when you really need it, and every time you use it, it's like Mmmmm arbor trolley, imagine what it would be like without it

Somewhere under that lot is a trolly, a good 9 armfuls in that lot, easily shifted by 1man, very sadly I worked out on that job we saved over 2km of brash dragging.

As said on the right job indispensable but not ideal for tight gardens.

As soon as you get one you'll find more uses for it. Therefore you'll find it to be the cheapest bit it of kit you'll ever own.

If mine broke I wouldn't leave home until it's replacement had arrived!

I'd get one. Look at the size of the log at the end of the video.

How long would it take to handball all the rings and all the mess of cutting it up. Plus it opens up the possibilities of milling

All equipment is contextual to the environment you work in and the operation you run.

 

Everyone has different access to jobs, nature of work, levels of staff, capacity of trucks, size of chippers, client expectations etc etc etc

 

The bit of gear that might build up one company might drag another down

 

The thing is your the best judge of whether it will work or not for you and the arbtrolley is very much dependent on individual situations (unlike most chainsaws, ropes or other universally used gear in our industry)

 

We have sometime similar, gets used maybe once every month or couple of months but even then, for us, its worth it. Why work harder?

if its mostly domestic artwork you do i would say you definitely should get one it always amazes me how many trips it saves us

Another good thing with big pieces is that you can lever it up onto the arb trolley then 3 or 2 of you only have to lift it 1 foot or so onto the back of the truck thus saving your back....I think we overloaded it with this one piece :-)
