bad, bad news mate...there have been a spate of thefts like this in Essex over the last month...these buggers know exactly what they are doing...I hope they meet someone with a shotgun one night on one of their 'ops'

Sorry to hear it fella, it's never good to hear these stories but sounds like an awful time for it right now. At least you seem to be sussed with what matters most at the moment though. Also very sorry to hear about the loss of a 200t, damn shame...

It's outrageous the number of thefts of this nature we're experiencing in the UK though, it's almost a weekly thing on here. What changes/action could we possibly make to reign this in? Surely there has to be something other than forcing petty thieves to evolve into master criminals?

This is an interesting eBay seller. Lots of items for sale and plenty of stihl parts/machines.

No local collection seems odd?

STIHL HEDGE CUTTER STHIL HEDGE TRIMMER EXCELLENT RUNNER - | eBay

I think this one is OK - there are whole machines for sale and those are pick-up only. I suspect he is clearing trade-ins and stripping down scrap machines from a dealer somewhere.

Blimey, just got in from a hectic day, I can only say thank you to everyone, to try & answer all in one post, they got all my good saws, they left the a couple not worth having, & did not take a backpack blower or hand held one.

I will go through the posts on here again & answer any poignant points in the next day or so, but to my utter shame have been whisked away by an apparition in flowing frocks to an indescribable demise at a local house of disrepute, or to cut it short I got a lift up the pub from my sister & we had a few drinks after a busy day!:blushing:

Very sorry to hear this and your post has prompted me to get off my Harris and

try and sort some security out here.

Three or four years ago I bought a little Chinese camera thingy for about £100 which is battery powered. It is called a MMS Mobile (AV) monitor and can send three pictures ti my phone and email three images which apparently are admissible in court as well as sending me a text when the camera is activated.

There is no need for a third party server.

It is the right direction but I bought it off ebay and I cannot find any more!

Does anyone know of a good system which can operate several cameras and send me a text every time one is triggered so even when I am abroad I can scroll through the cameras to check on things. I could then phone police or neighbours to try and catch them.

Have tracker systems improved enough to make it worthwhile to fit to smaller items like chainsaws?

The fingerprint boys came round today, nice lads, & realists too, they gave me an insight into the amount of chainsaw theft going on, very much elevated in the last year in this area sums it up.
