Unfortunately I wouldn't be legal with the weight. I haven't managed to find a light enough truck with a 1300kg payload. I am limited to 3.5t

Our flat bed crewcab transit weighs 2.1 tonnes with driver and fuel so it should be easy.

A panel van has a better payload if you can slide it in.

Hello All,

The time has come for Puffing Billy (my exeter charcoal retort kiln) to take a trip home for some TLC involving extreme heat and a big hammer.

My problem is that I am in Suffolk and I need to get the kiln to Exeter, where the upgrades will be carried out for free by the manufacturers. The kiln weighs in at 1300kg and I don't have a suitable vehicle, or licence, for that matter to do the transporting.

I was wondering if there was anyone out there with a landrover or flat bed transit type vehicle who had a day free and wanted to earn a few bob to do the couriering for me.

I will also need the kiln picking up again about two weeks or so after the drop off, and delivering back to Hadleigh, Suffolk.

I realise that you are all mega busy, but also know that you are good people who like to help out if they can. If anyone can help or knows of anyone who might be able to I would be eternally grateful.

All the best, Graham

Hi Graham, sorry about the delayed response - didn't spot your reply. I will measure up but I am not hopeful.

I have what is nominally an 8'x4' plant trailer and it would sit within plated weight and towing vehicle capacity (and I have the necessary licence). The trailer is over-length on the 8'x4' so I suspect the 2.5m is OK, and the overall width is legally measured over the mudguards (I confirmed this when I was looking at carrying some outrageously big timber slung over the top of it) but the inside is not likely to be 1.5m wide. Is the flat base the full 1.5m width?

If it will fit, I am going on holiday to the West Country this August, for a fortnight, so might just be able to fit something together around this?

Alec
