I think he means coupled with the winch cable Andy, not fed through it.

16mm Portland Braid here, but we don't take the p on expectations.

Wherever possible I use a chunk of 22mm pollyprop with mine, that way its not tragic if it gets landed on

 

I saw a tirfor with the wrong rope in it once.

 

It stripped out at a very inconvenient moment.

I agree big polly prop will be stronger than the shear pin in the tirfor like tree quip said if it gets caught or torn it's cheap to replace

I just wondered what rope people use with a Tirfor winch? Just for simple tasks like pulling trees over. Mine snapped today.

I've got three brand new 16mm Dia steel braided rope with eye for sale think they're 20m each. PM for more info

16mm double esterlron with a porta-wrap, which is as important as your choice of line. No point wrecking it at the knot & it failing prior to the winch.

You're quite right Pete and I'm so dumb for not using my Portacrap as the tie on point:blushing:.

Yesterdays rope snapped at the knot, unsurprisingly:thumb down:.
