That sir is about the best answer any1 can give, a job takes as long as a job takes with the kit you have, and costs you what it costs you to do it. Outers have different kit, faster climbers bigger trucks that might do it quicker but overheads are higher so so will there price so don't worry is someone else can do in a day what you need 2 to do it doesn't necessarily make them cheaper.

But it costs what it costs, if you think it will take 2 days to do it then charge 2 days money, but if it takes you 2 days and another crew take and charge a day then its pointless you matching their price and loosing out. I've only under priced a couple of jobs and have worked hard never to let it happen again. I put on what it will take me and my lads to do the job, the customers can take it or get someone else to do it. Don't work for nowt.

Thanks Hodge..I appreciate your feedback. I have actually priced it on the basis of: Me and a groundie for a day dismantling and taking top half of trunk down. Then me and team of three with truck and chipper to go on second day and finish off and remove everything. Maybe we'll get away early or maybe late lol.

 

As has been mentioned in other posts the time gets sapped by cutting up the bigger pieces of trunk and carrying them out. I learned this on the last (and only so far)big one I did. It really was a shock how long it took to cut up a 6 mt trunk which was 4 ft diameter at thick end and wheelbarrow segments out to the trailer. Mind you never needed to go to the gym for a bit

Dismantle half on a day? Next day finished off then start the clear up? Your going to be there 4 days working like that IMO

Seems an odd way to do it, if you took 3 groundsmen 4 of you could probably do it In a day with them clearing as you cut, providing you can climb fast enough to keep them dragging.

Dismantle lower half- fell the rest onto the lawn. Would take us a easy day to do with our gear. $1600+GST

Did a similar sized tree with drag out thru utility room at side of house. 2 x 3 1/2 ton trucks, 6 guys ,one chipper. One day. £1000
