Depends how heavy your chip box and tipping gear adds up too, as each 1 is realistic a individual modified vehicle each will differ from the next so unless you put it on the scales it's an appointment guess. I work on the theory that full is about ok ;) but 2.5 ton of chip approx and mine holds 7m ish so unless very wet it's ok.

A nice conversion, I got an RB44 about a year ago to use here and there, it's got a decent tipper body and looks great. My only gripe with them is how incredibly slowly it goes up a hill, even unladen. It seems to me there'sa problem with the difference between 2nd gear and 3rd gear; as the revs drop in 3rd and you need to cvhange down the difference to 2nd is such that you're going at 15-20 mph tops. Just thought I'd put it out there incase I've a problem and others don't?? In which case, I have a problem!

I wonder if this is down to the overall gearing with those massive army wheels/tyres. The RB`s I have driven are civvy ones on 17.5 tyres and they pull and go like a train. I have a military one but have not driven it yet but I can check the diff ratio`s and see if they have attempted to correct the gearing after fitting those 20" tyres.

I had a quick squint under the 7.5 ton RB and it has a completely different type of back axle, the fronts are the same. There are no tags to indicate what ratios they are but a quick look on the dodge 50 site seems to indicate there are two ratios available and they are 4.9 and 5.3 . I dont know which ones are in the 5.5 ton rb. Will keep digging.
