I agree with elfinwood, people round me sell logs too cheap which keeps cord prices low not much in it especially if your handcutting it!

I don't sell my logs cheap if I get a good deal on the wood, my price is £90 per m3 what ever I pay, if I pay less I get more profit

You're all doing it wrong! There's a beech blown over in the edge of a field next door to me. My drive was blocked by some "tree surgeon" who "needed" the firewood as he'd run out of logs to sell. Just help your self to what ever you fancy, buying it is for sissys!

£90 a cube is cheap £35 a cube cheaper than me and I'm thinking about putting prices up.

We all know it's a local price thing and is as much as the local demand will take, if I go up to just 95 I halve my sales over night! Plus I only deliver very locally

we get £35 a ton for mixed softwood chipwood, but we are going to start turning a lot of the softwood chipwood into kiln dried firewood, other wise it,s not worth cutting chipwood.

Delivered in or roadside?

When I gave up we got about 23 for kronospan chip and 29 for stregis hardwood with around 12/tonne haulage and that was 15 years ago.

I have about 150 tonnes of p63 blown spruce and pine and may have to harvest his myself but the wood has never been touched since planting so is not under any schemes.

it's not entirely a local thing when I started I looked at prices others were asking and I put £25 on top rather than undercut and still got orders. if your doing quality people will buy regardless of price.

I agree Logs

We're still too cheap compared to overheads but have been putting prices up consistently to reflect spiralling costs. However there are still some local guys 50% less, if they can service all the market and we lose all customers then fine we'll sell gear and move onto something else.

At moment however we're busy as always and if someone quotes the cheap brigade then we just politely advise to buy it from them.

Aup all, I'm another at £90 a cube, I would lose sales if I were to put prices up much more, however it all depends on how much you are paying for your wood! Personally I won't pay more than £30 a tonne. However if everybody were to put their prices up we all would benefit, but business always means somebody prepared to under cut.:confused1:

I reckon better to put your prices up lose a few customers and work less for the same money. I pay £30 to £55 a ton depending on availability when im looking.
