Looking for a grenade

Seen grenades on eBay from £7.50 up to £25. Do you get what you pay for with these things or is there not much difference between them. They all look very similar but if there are good and bad ones what are the good ones. Thanks

I wouldnt bother Ive never seen one split timber like they claim to!

Bought one in scats - Used it once. Never again. Waste of time and money.

I usually get the Roughneck grenade from Screwfix for £10, Ive found them much better than other splitting wedges, but its never split a log into 4.

Easier just to cut it with a chainsaw if you don't have a log spiltter.

They work but only if you put in the effort pounding them in . They are not magic .

I have one oof those steel wedges that are twisted and found that to be a lot more effective than the wood grenades. I'd tend to agree with the above comments that they are cack:001_smile:

I think the thing is that you only ever bring one out when you have a particularly gnarly knotty stubborn ugly lump to split so they are hallways up against it . If your not built like Geoff Capes ( age ! ) it is going to take huge amounts of effort / I have a few and some of the helical wedges mentioned above . If it was easy you would use your axe . Thankfully those days are gone as I have two mechanical splitters now .
