Land rover mini artic with a fifth wheel coupling is the ultimate for towing on a car license.

1 ton allowed on the neck and a permissible 3.5 on the trailer wheels , A trailer for timber with small crane and one tipping bin for chip. No snaking about, coupled brakes and perfect road manners. The nuts.

Another option I have been using is convincing customers to keep wood chip & some of the logs generated. You have to really sell it some but it is working. It's about time chip wasn't seen as a waste product.

cough cough

Aspenberg, a pre 1997 car licence.

I seriously looked at tendering for sommat similar based on an Iveco "tractor" unit, Iveco were briefly producing them for UK sale but I suspect poor sales killed that idea off.

I tought dey were plumb cute!

Anyway since it was possible to buy an "off the shelf" 7500kg chassis with a beavertail body, and 4000kg/4100kg payload.

That was the option I went for.

Going in the paper next week!
