Hello All,

 

Been observing the forum for a while and made a few posts but realised I had never really done the introduction thing.

 

Name is Alistair and I'm based in the South Tyne Valley just inside Northumberland. Was brought up around farms and have been working outdoors all my life. Short while civil engineering then about 15 year in outdoor pursuits.

 

Now run my own First Aid Training company specialising in training for rural, remote and high risk occupations. Farmers, Foresters, Tree Surgeons, Gamekeepers, Rescue Teams, Outdoor Pursuits, etc.

 

Still get hands on with some good old graft on a local estate when time permits simply because I enjoy the work and it helps me keep the first aid training relevant. Looking to do CS30/31 this year to unlearn 16 years of bad habits!

 

Also training officer with a specialist underground and rope rescue team in Cumbria so interested in all the technical climbing stuff. Always more to learn from how other people do it.

Hi all,

Been reading everything with great interest for about 12 months now, finally got round to signing in!

I'm Seb, live in kent, own a 30 acre wood in south wales.

Mainly Norway Spruce, Western Hemlock and massive veteran beech, with Ash and hazel thrown in.

Terrible access, very steep site- some places so steep that climbing would be better than walking.

Trees are all overstood, but great for logs and wotnot.

 

 

Picked up lots of tips on here already. Everyone very helpful.

Hi everyone, I am the works manager for the Highland Wildlife Park, part of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, based in Strathspey near Kingussie. A bit of my remit is to look after the 40 acres of trees that make up a part of the 200 odd acre estate that the Park covers. I have been visiting the forum for a few weeks now and find a lot of very useful info here.

Ive been involved in competitive offroad driving both 4x4's and trials bikes for years and also build vintage dirt track bikes in what little spare time I have

Hey all!

 

I'm lurking no more been reading the forums for a few months with great interest, especially about SRT climbing which I tend to do a lot of! Anyway a bit about me, I'm 26 years old nearly 27 (old git I know!) I'm from newbury in Berkshire England and have been climbing for about 2 years now and I have recently started up my own firm, just spent the best part of my life savings on kit! I know I'm not as experienced as a lot of you lads on here but I'm getting there! I mainly work on medium too larger trees and have a mix of work from woodland maintenance too felling/pruning etc!
