  2. Took delivery of our new mill last week with enough track extensions to give us 6m of cut.. been trying it out .. some 1" boards and a beam from some Scots Pine
  3. I just first cut a one acre paddock at our place that has been lying for 16 years using an International B275 and a 5@ Wessex topper, second cut tomorrow if the rain fecks off!!
  4. sleety snow here in the Spey Valley just about to head for home .. north to the Black Isle on the hillbilly highway
  5. Thanks the I beam is there purely as a bench to set the logs at a comfortable work height, we use a couple of fence post cuttings to wedge the narrow end in place. For the first cut we use a 4m length of C channel steel to run the mill guides to run along. If we are in a hurry we do the first cut freehand with my 555 Job done now and the cats are in the enclosure
  6. We just finished it this week, we milled approximately 300m2 of 30mm thick cladding using a 36" Alaskan mill fitted to a Husqvarna 365 running a 24" bar and ripping chain.
  7. Snow leopard holding area and viewing hut milled from windblown timber cut on site at Highland Wildlife Park near Aviemore.
  8. My 07 plate Jeep Grand Cherokee has 137000 hard miles on it, body is getting tired but the heart is still strong .. sounds familiar
  9. This is my lpg kitted v8 auto winch truck. I started out with a 1959 series two back in 1987 and kept modifying it.. Its more 90 than series two now .. KAM axles with low ratio diffs futted with Detroit locker on rear Trutrack up front. Britpart +3" dislocating springs and matching deCarbon shocks 16" beadlocked modulars with 37" Maxxis Crawler tyres .. Theres a Britpart 12000lb winch up front and soon will be fitting another in the back with an aA frame for both towing amd being towed.. Ive got an old Harvey Frost recovery jib ready to go on so i can use it to haul bigger logs out of the wood , been using it to haul out wind blown stumps and the odd hung up tree recently
  10. Hilux for me, we run a Mitsi L200 too but i prefer the Yota
  11. Hi everyone, I am the works manager for the Highland Wildlife Park, part of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, based in Strathspey near Kingussie. A bit of my remit is to look after the 40 acres of trees that make up a part of the 200 odd acre estate that the Park covers. I have been visiting the forum for a few weeks now and find a lot of very useful info here. Ive been involved in competitive offroad driving both 4x4's and trials bikes for years and also build vintage dirt track bikes in what little spare time I have cheers Steve
