Trio Brake?

I mentioned XP saws as I have seen it on a 346XP . Ok . Fit it to home owner saws if you must but leave it off the pro saws .....

Hi

Agreed, cant say Id buy a saw with it, looks like it would get in the way, may appeal to infrequent home user though.

Probably more useful if it could be retro fitted & removed, for example if you had an inexperienced guy working for you, just to provide an additional bit of safety.

The only time I know of anyone buying one was when a local delaer bought one (maybe more) in and couldn't shift it/them so dropped the price to less than the non trio brake one. The paddle part can be unbolted but it leaves a bit of a stub sticking out that still gets in the way. From what I can remember it was available on the 346xp, 350 and 345, but I might be wrong.

Great system, a very under estimated addition to a number of Husqvarna saws, it utilises the original brake, so there is very little to go wrong, the powers that be in the UK have removed it from the price list, a great shame, i have worked on many trio brake saws and would recommend to everybody, if the German saws had this available they would be shouting it from the roof tops

Why do I need to be either? :confused1:

I don't feel its for me, but don't feel the need to slag it off when it may help others.

Skyhuck's right. There are plenty of occasional users out there with XP saws: I have a friend whose 346 is still on it's original chain, and he knows I have my eye on it for whenever he finally realises he doesn't need it. A TrioBrake would suit him.

I get the issue of it getting in the way when snedding, but not every user sneds. The only time I ever did much snedding was on my CS31... As an extra safety feature for e.g. crosscutting firewood, it has value.

FWIW, people made similar comments about seat belts when they first came in.

A TrioBrake isn't compulsory so, if it's not for you, don't buy it. Just please don't knock it either. You may just put off someone who COULD be helped by it.
